Geek Wish: my experience

Is it safe to shop through Geek Wish? I tried to bought some items with the Geek Wish app. This is what happened

I realized, some times ago, that I lost that healthy distrust that kept me away from improvised purchases from new webshops. Lately, ’cause of a bad experience I had with Italian webshop “Zion Smart Shop”, this mistrust has returned. For a time I did’t buy anything, which was not sold in stores clearly reliable.
One day, however, someone makes me know the Geek Wish app. Geek Wish is a trading platform, like Amazon, EBay or Alibaba. Prices are very low and some items are in sale up to 95%. There are gadget, tools and chinoiserie.

Can you save money? The answer is YES.

Where is the swindle? No swindle, baby. Simply, you are buying “made in China” stuff, which arrives straight from China, selled with chinese prices.

My experiences

First

It’s possible to use PayPal: this is a very good thing. After recording my account, I bought 2 USB sticks 256GB from the same shop with a ridiculous price (circa 20 euro / 22.5$ US dollars). With confirmation email, they gave me courier tracking. Great. Well, relatively quickly, the keys arrives. I realize immediately that there is something wrong: one is 128gb … here, I knew it. Not bad, with what I paid … though. But I’m picky and I decide to let them know. I take pictures of the products in their original packaging and the receipt envelope, I go on the app, under “orders”, there is a form to report any misunderstandings with the seller. Then I send a friendly message thinking to be ignored. But here the surprise: despite I not asked anything like that (I would hoped only a “sorry we were wrong”), I have received the full amount!

Second

A bit positively shocked from the first experience, I make another order. A wireless mouse. Black, with the central wheel, the side frets, the on / off switch on the bottom, with accommodation for 2 AAA batteries but despite this, very light. 4 € (4.5$ US dollars) shipping included. This time, the tracking show me that the package stops in Shenzhen and there it remains for at least a month. After a month and a half it arrived. Perfect.

Conclusions

In my humble opinion, I don’t think I will spend more than 50 Euros on Geek Wish, because products do not have local warranties (if something is wrong you must returning package to China? And then waiting more for second time? No thanks I am for simplify trading). Especially I would never do an order for a product that I need urgently, in fact the arrival times are very instable. Despite this I must say that the experience with Geek Wish has been relatively good so probably I will do further orders (for example I saw WeCast to 12 euro and it seems pretty interesting).
